Borneo Rosette Tattoo Meaning

Known as bunga teruong in the native Malay language, the Borneo rosette is a simple flower motif rendered in black ink, with a spiral pattern in the middle that represents the circle of life.

It is worn by the Iban people from the state of Sarawak, in Eastern Malaysia. The motif is believed to guard the wearer from evil spirits, and it was traditionally tattooed on hunters to keep them safe in the jungle.

Borneo rosette tattoos can be placed anywhere, but should be done in pairs to ensure protection for both sides of the body.
